DAYTRIPS

Segovia

Located in the community of Castilla y León, Segovia is the capital of the province that bears the same name, a city of open doors that in addition to different industries, tourism stands out as one of the pillars of its economy.

Both the old city and the aqueduct were declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985, a recognition that attracted thousands of tourists who stroll through its streets every year. The truth is that Segovia is a meeting point of history: stately homes, incredible panoramic views, a Jewish quarter and that green touch of nature that makes you disconnect from the hustle and bustle of the big metropolis.

Aranjuez

Called Real Sitio y Villa de Aranjuez, only about 50 minutes separate this Madrid town from the center of the capital, an ideal distance for a day trip to one of the most beautiful cities in the Community of Madrid.

The municipality combines history -but a lot, a lot-, culture in abundance, nature in its purest form and, of course, an excellent gastronomy, courtesy of its renowned orchards, largely fed by the waters of the Tagus River.

Cuenca

Divided into two parts, the old town located more than 1000 meters above sea level and the new city that extends in the lower part, Cuenca has an impressive old town, located on a rocky hill surrounded by the gorges of the Júcar and Huécar rivers, where the buildings border the cliff and the narrow streets take you back to the Middle Ages.

Here you can stroll through the old town until you find the emblematic Casas Colgadas or the skyscrapers of the San Martín neighborhood, which is a real wonder and can still be enjoyed, at certain times of the day, with very few tourists.

El Escorial

The Royal Site of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, popularly known as the Monastery of El Escorial, began its construction in 1562 and was completed in 1584. It was built by order of Philip II for two reasons: to recognize the victory of St. Quentin, which ended on the day of San Lorenzo August 10, 1557 and the desire to erect a mausoleum in memory of his father Charles V and for the future Kings of Spain. It is a multifunctional complex with palace, basilica and monastery.

It has been considered, since the end of the 16th century, the Eighth Wonder of the World.

Toledo

Toledo, declared a World Heritage Site, does not allow us to choose between the sources of its culture and its history: it is a mixture of times and people, of cultures and religions, all styles are in its monuments, all secular activities are represented in it and its visit enhances the soul, intelligence and culture.

The city stands as a tolerant place that understood to be chosen by different peoples who inhabited it and knew how to respect their steps, preserving even today important traces that have given it the nickname of City of the Three Cultures.

Guadalajara

Guadalajara, capital of the Alcarria and meeting place of cultures, styles and times, combines the comfort of the functional and modern with the historical roots that populate its streets and its origin.

Its geographical and strategic position, in the middle course of the Henares, an elevation flanked by ravines, made it a place of human settlement since prehistoric times, as evidenced by archaeological sites such as Aguas Vivas.

WEEKEND TRIPS

País Vasco

The Basque Country is full of emblematic corners, film-like landscapes and treasures with a lot of history.

We visited some of its most wonderful spots such as Bilbao, San Sebastian (have a look at the pic above) and San Juan de Gaztelugatxe (where Game of Thrones was recorded).

Sevilla

The song says that "Seville has a special color", but the truth is that it not only has a color, but a whole rainbow. Every corner has a different personality and every street hides a surprise.

It is a beautiful city whichever way you look at it. Its light makes it magical, its smell of orange blossom, unforgettable, and its atmosphere is also remembered. It has art, flamenco "duende", culture... and a fascinating history that is reflected in the historical monuments.

Granada

Granada is, without any doubt, one of the most beautiful cities in Spain and Andalusia. Its history, its cobbled streets, its tapas and exquisite cuisine and its people are compelling reasons to visit it. We assure you that you will not regret it.

The unmistakable traces of Moorish culture, its architecture and its unique corners make Granada an always desirable destination.

NATIONAL EVENTS

Every Erasmus student from every ESN city in Spain, all together during the same weekend. What could go wrong? 😏

Once a semester the 38 ESN sections of Spain meet in a city to celebrate our National Event.
A weekend full of parties, new friendships and an international atmosphere incomparable to any other event.
You will also have the opportunity to visit the city hand in hand with our local colleagues thanks to tours, guided visits and activities. All of this while you bond with us and your Erasmus family 💗

NATIONAL ERASMUS GAMES

What is this?

Once a year students from our Erasmus cities meet to compete in the National Erasmus Games.
Soccer, basketball or volleyball, choose your favourite sport and pack your bags to win a medal.
The winning teams of each sport will have a pass to participate in the International Erasmus Games, that take place also once a year in Europe.
Prove that your Erasmus city (aka your new home) is the winner of Europe!
